In 1914, the first Russian optical manufacturer RAOMP (LOMO’s predecessor) has started production of field gun sights and stereo tubes for the growing needs of Russian Army - the World War I was just two months away. During the Cold War and the Space Race with the United States, LOMO has become the major contributor to the Soviet defense and aerospace research programs. From Sputnik to Mir Space Station, LOMO has been able to apply its diverse technologies to mankind’s quest to conquer the Universe.
